On the front-line of our fight against food waste
At TGTG, every single colleague plays a unique role in our fight against food waste đȘđŸ. Yet, armed with their phones and sharp persuasive skills, our salespeople are absolutely key. Theyâre the ones that expand our territory, partnering with new awesome businesses - from restaurants to shops - and making sure our win-win-win circle happily spins đđŸ.
But whatâs it like to fight food waste in our fantastic sales team? Pol and Iban, from Spain, and Frederik and FrĂ©dĂ©ric, from Belgium, - yes, an amazing duo with the same name đ -, tell us more about their job routines, challenges, and achievements.
Work environment
For Iban, a passionate sales specialist in Madrid, working at TGTG feels like hanging out with friends, despite all the hard work: âI feel that Iâm working with really highly qualified people from whom Iâm learning a lot. [Itâs] really a friendly and open-minded environment; lots of times, I feel Iâm working with friends to fight against food wasteâ.
Much of this warm atmosphere stems from our #noAssholes âpolicyâ, along with an inspiring mission that binds together a bunch of people who love food and hate waste. âYou can wake up in a bad mood but going to the office and meeting your colleagues to work some magic makes you feel good againâ, says our Sales Manager FrĂ©dĂ©ric, âitâs an open, young and very effective team that sometimes feels like a big familyâ. Doing the right thing is in our DNA and this holds true for everyone in the company, in whichever country they are.
Open communication lies at the heart of our sales team dynamics; âWe do our very best to create an open communication culture. Feedback is key!â, our Head-of-Sales Frederik explains. In the same position but based a little further south, in Barcelona, Pol bets on the same approach: âWe have a lot of confidence between all the members of the sales team and we always try to be transparent with every issue that affects usâ.
A day in the life of a sales warrior
What exactly does a waste warrior placed in the sales team do? Frederik helps us with that: âIn local sales, we make sure that every single day our users can save delicious food from ending up in the bin. On a daily basis, we look for interesting partnerships, develop relationships, and try to save as much food as we can!â
Weâve been growing at skyrocket speed to save more and more food, all over the world, and this, of course, involves a lot of dedication from our salespeople. âOur goal is that each person that wants to save food through our app has a store nearby to do soâ, says Pol, âthat's why weâre working to be in as many cities and towns as possibleâ.
Pol explains that the routine of a sales warrior varies depending on if he or she is taking care of a new city launch or not. Whereas the first involves a more structured schedule, the second allows for more flexibility.
Iban has been busy with tasks such as calling and meeting shops, onboarding and training stores, and even launching a new city. He dreams to cover the map of Spain with TGTG dots đ. Likewise, FrĂ©derik is very passionate about spreading our positive foodprint in Belgium: âThe most interesting work is all that we do to find new partners who might want to work with us: for instance, looking for information, names, contact details, building a network, reaching out to the decision-makers and convincing themâ.
Learn, learn, learn
But being a waste warrior in Sales is not only about working hard while having fun; itâs also a lot of development. People here are #growth-minded and hungry to learn; âI look forward to the constant growth and evolution of tools, mindset, people... [TGTG is] a great community!â, says FrĂ©dĂ©ric. Thanks guys, keep up the good work! đ
