The world's largest surplus food app, Too Good To Go, and much-loved TV chef and sandwich guru Max Halley have teamed up to help the nation celebrate their Christmas leftovers with the ‘Ultimate Christmas Leftover Sandwich’ recipe.
The collaboration follows new national research* commissioned by Too Good To Go has found that 84% of Brits expect to have food leftover this Christmas. And of this leftover food, the three items most likely to feature are: yorkshire puddings (only 16% of Brits say they reuse these), condiments/gravy (only 8% reuse this) and crisps (only 20% of Brits say they repurpose these at Christmas).
With Max’s talent for turning the humble sandwich into a taste sensation, combined with Too Good To Go’s expertise in fighting food waste, this recipe aims to provide at-home cooks with the inspiration to transform these wasted Christmas food items into a deliciously new creation.
Expect warm turkey trimmings, topped with a leftover roastie and vegetable patty and crunchy vegetable slaw in a citrus dressing, then slathered in a mouthwatering gravy mayonnaise and finished with a sprinkling of leftover vegetable crisps for added texture.
Plus, alongside the recipe, the sandwich will be available for one day only at cult hotspot, ‘Max’s Sandwich Shop’, in North London. Opening especially for lunch, the limited-edition sandwiches will be available to purchase exclusively via the Too Good To Go app in advance, for collection at the shop on Friday 10th December between 12-2pm.
Customers simply need to download the Too Good To Go app and search for ‘Max Halley’s Ultimate Christmas Leftover Sandwich’ to purchase and reserve their sandwich. All profits from the sales of the sandwich will be donated to support the work of local food banks.
“I’m really excited to have teamed up with Too Good To Go to help people all over the country turn their already delicious Christmas dinner into an even more delicious Christmas leftover sandwich” says Max Halley, Chef/Owner of Max’s Sandwich Shop. He adds: “I can’t wait to see this recipe put into action across the country.”
Paschalis Loucaides, Managing Director of Too Good To Go said, “Christmas is a notoriously wasteful time of year, particularly when it comes to food, but that’s why we’re thrilled to be partnering with Max to help show just how easy and delicious it can be to repurpose our leftover festive food. Max is a legend when it comes to sandwiches and it just goes to show that with a little creativity, we can all do our bit to reduce our food waste and get a delicious meal in the process! Plus, most importantly, by throwing away less food we’re helping to protect our planet and pave the way for a brighter, greener future”.

ABOUT TOO GOOD TO GO
Too Good To Go has a simple mission: to make sure all food gets eaten, not wasted.
In 2016, a group of entrepreneurs witnessed restaurant staff throwing away fresh food. The food’s only problem? It hadn’t sold in time, and no one was around to take it off the restaurant’s hands. The group pioneered a seamless solution: an app that lists businesses’ unsold food so local diners can find, buy and enjoy it.
Now, thousands of Magic Bags are rescued from businesses such as supermarkets, restaurants, and bakeries every day. The success of the app powers Too Good To Go’s wider efforts to drive a food waste movement, working with schools, industries and governments to build a planet-friendly food system.
