Tips for making a balanced meal from a café Surprise Bag
Looking to up the fibre and vitamin C?
We’d recommend pairing with a super simple balsamic salad - cucumber, raw green beans, sliced shallots, baby spinach and crunchy lettuce drizzled in balsamic vinegar.
Add a protein side to your sandwich
Make a high-protein spinach dip for your panini by blending a handful of spinach with 4 tbsp of greek yoghurt, 1 tbsp of mayo, 1 tbsp of grated parmesan (or ½ tbsp of nutritional yeast), ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon of onion powder plus salt and pepper. This would add about 10 grams of protein to your meal!
Make a croissandwich
Don’t be afraid of stuffing your croissant with savoury fillings - add a fried egg, cheese and spinach for protein, vitamins and deliciousness, or go Greek with feta, olives, chicken and sundried tomatoes.
Up the healthy fats
Add a handful of seeds and nuts, or open up a tin of tuna - alternatively, why not splash half an avocado with hot sauce, lime, salt and pepper?
Feel more full from your sweet treat
If you’ve gotten a muffin, slice or cookie and want the fullness to go further, add some fruit or greek yoghurt to round out your mini meal. Add slices of banana to your cookie and make it into a banookie.Ready to give it a go?
